Environmental policy

We believe in sustainable development

JB has assumed a proactive role with the surrounding environment, permanently seeking to improve its performance in environmental preservation, minimising the impact of its activity. In this sense, several actions have already been carried out:

  • Registration as a waste producer and product producer in SILiamb - Integrated Environmental Licensing System. The Portuguese Environment Agency provides an online SILiamb system to make licensing applications, monitor the licensing process and consult uses, communicate with APA/ARH (sending and receiving messages) among other features.
  • We joined "Sociedade Ponto Verde" in 2012, having been certified by this institution for compliance with packaging waste management, through adhesion to the Integrated Waste and Packaging Management System.
  • In 2014 a contract was formalised with Amb3E - Portuguese Waste Management Association. Amb3E - Portuguese Waste Management Association, the managing entity of the Electrão Network, is responsible for the collection and forwarding for treatment and recovery of more than 400 thousand tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (REEE) and waste batteries and accumulators (RPA), generated in Portugal. In 2018, Amb3E became the one-stop-shop of environmental complicance in Portugal, with the start of the packaging waste management activity.
  • In the same year, an agreement was signed with Anreee, the National Association for the Registration of Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Batteries and Accumulators.
  • In 2015 we took another important step by installing a self-consumption photovoltaic system with 15 kVA. Being a clean and environmentally friendly form of energy production, since it only uses solar energy, JB installed 66 Martifer photovoltaic modules of 250 Wp.
  • In 2016 we were distinguished together with only 17 national companies with the Galp ProEnergy seal, which aims at the internal promotion of good efficiency practices to reduce electricity consumption.
  • We replaced the traditional lighting in all our facilities that used fluorescent lamps with LEDs. This change included the total area of the building, resulting in a power reduction estimated at 12480 W.
  • Reduction of water consumption through the application of metering devices on the taps of the various bathrooms that are in our building.
  • Encouraging our customers to reuse cardboard packaging, avoiding the use of plastic bags for product packaging.
  • The constant concern with reducing the amount of packaging used for the packaging of products, goods and others.
  • New pavilion equipped with LED lighting and an energy saving system.
  • Choice of environmentally friendly equipment and appliances, with "eco-mode".

We will continue to promote all our efforts to reduce our ecological footprint on a planet Earth that belongs to us all!
