From industrial use to creativity with washi paper
mt masking tape is a Japanese brand created by Kamoi Kakoshi, a company founded in 1923 with a long history of expertise in adhesive tape manufacturing.
The origins of mt are linked to the transformation of a product traditionally associated with industrial use into a means of expression and creativity. Contact with users who were exploring new possibilities for masking tape led to the development of a collection in different colours and, subsequently, to the creation of the mt brand.
Made in Japan from washi paper, mt tapes combine strength and adhesion with the ability to be easily torn, applied and removed. Their variety of colours, patterns, widths and collections makes them suitable for different contexts, from stationery, gifts and creative projects to decoration.
Over the years, mt has explored new possibilities in the design, printing and use of masking tape through different collections and collaborations with artists and designers. The range also includes concepts such as mt CASA, developed to bring the brand's visual language and versatility into the decoration of different spaces.
The design of mt masking tape received the Good Design Award in Japan in 2008, followed by other international distinctions recognising products, projects, exhibitions and initiatives developed by the brand.
